Gentleman Lumberjack is owned and operated by Ashley White. I was born and bred in the Midwest and love to call this place home. I am based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota and have made a career discovering the best places to fish along the Mississippi River and St. Croix River even from right here in town!

My passion is teaching people how to fish, and building lasting relationships with my clients. I would love to get to know you, and get you out on the water!

As anglers, we frequently focus on the catch. The size, our accomplishment and expertise at what we do. I have spent the past 17 years doing the same but recently, the release, has come into focus and the importance of making sure she is ready to swim. Even upstream if necessary.

It all started two and a half years ago. While floating down the river with a client, she expressed interest in traveling to Bolivia for an adventure of a lifetime but she had no one to go with. “I’ll go if you’re serious,” I said immediately.

    Ash is a very knowledgeable and fun guide. One thing that sticks out the most is how much he enjoys putting people on fish. His rowing skills are par none. He positions you for high percentage cast and this important when throwing big flies on an 8wt for 4+ hours. I would recommend him to any angler of any level. You will have a great time with Ash as your guide.

    Had an amazing day with Ashley! He was extremely knowledgeable about fishing the Mississippi for smallmouth bass. I personally had over 10 fish to hand this day under his guidance. Besides the excellent fishing, Ashley whipped up some incredible fajitas for lunch. A hot lunch on the water is always such a treat. I highly recommend Ashley for your next fishing trip on the Mississippi.

    My trip with Ashley was some of the best fishing I've experienced. Not because we caught so many, but because of the care, knowledge and fun that Ashley provided. I had never been fly fishing before and Ashley was more than happy to get me up to speed quickly and coach me through it. He was patient and encouraging, and shared in the excitement of catching my first small mouth on a fly reel. The experience was enjoyable, relaxed, and invigorating all at the same time.
